For example, keep items such as cords and remotes in their own bag. If the main item has any extra parts or accessories.

Keep them separate as well (unless you use customized packaging that includes space for these components).

It's also a good idea to add bubble wrap or foam to provide an extra layer of protection

Since most retailers only have a 30 to 90 day return period, if you have room for the box, it's worth it to keep it at least for that time, especially for expensive electronics!
